The Snow doesn't keep Aunt Mary Home!!!!

OK! So now I'm just a little tired of all this white stuff!!! It's been quite lonely here. My husband is at this moment clearing the parking lot to make it easier for you to visit. So if you are feeling a little cabin feverish, stop in for a mocha and a smile. One of my friends came by the other day and I was so glad to see someone, I talked their ears off. I promise I will let you leave when you are ready. Happy Holidays!!!! HO, HO, HO!

Fun Times at Christmas Club

Well, another Christmas club is in the history books! Each year, the Saturday after Thanksgiving, we kick off the Christmas season by starting a new Christmas quilt. The goal is to have it done by the next year so that you can bring them for show and tell the next year. This is such a fun event. We have done at Aunt Mary's for around five years now. We break out the Christmas music, eat cookies, and just enjoy each others friendship. Dinner and door prizes and other treats are provided. This is Stephanie and her great quilt she started last year. Isn't it great!!! I love the show and tell part.
Here's a great quilt that Judy worked on last year. Isn't it great?!!!

I think this is Judy behind this quilt that can stand on it's own. It's a great quilt she designed to use a border fabric in a row setting. Just make alternate blocks!

Here's Donna, Ethel, Cherie and Rosealee. By the end of the night they were all well on there way to having some great things to share with us next year. We always make some great memories on these nights. Maybe you can join us next time. Be looking for our next traditional event. SUPPER SEW SUNDAY!!!

New Fabric From Australia

I know you are probably getting ready for that turkey day celebration, but Aunt Mary just got in some new fabric!!!

So are you ready for some really great fabric? This line is from a really small company that imports the fabric from Australia. It's not made to look Australian. It is! Designed by the Aboriginal people in Australia. The rich colors and great textures are incredible!

I really love the unusualness of this fabric. Keep watching for a project made with it. I can't wait to work with it!

Food Drive at Aunt Mary's

I believe it's important to take care of the people in our community. In this economy I think it's even more important. I always have a food drive this time of the year. This year I hope to have even more than we had last year to donate. So, stop by and drop something off. There are a few incentives on my web page so hit the go back button and find them. Also, don't forget the pets this holiday season. So many have a hard time keeping their little furry friends fed. We will gratefully accept pet food donation an get it to those in need. HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Roxanne's Classes are GREAT!!!

Are you feeling like you need a little help with a project, or maybe you want a little company with your quilting? Roxanne's classes here at the shop are very popular. This is one of our new quilters showing off a quilt with blocks that she inherited. Now, she came in and said she really didn't want to be a quilter and this was the only one she would ever do. Welllll, I think we got her!!! She did such a great job with this quilt, and I think she enjoyed it. I think we'll see more of her.

Here's Gail. She's such a fun girl! I'm not sure what the project she's working on. She may be here just because the company is so good! The blocks behind her belong to Carol. They are from a buggy barn class. Roxanne will help you finish all kinds of projects.

Here's Jane and Wendy. Jane's holding up one of the blocks she just finished for the block of the month that Roxanne does every year. It's just another great option for her class. I have seen the project for next year and it looks beautiful. You have the option of the size and if you want to learn to quilt as you go. Roxanne will get you there!

Jane Sassaman Was Here

Boy! Oh Boy! Has it been a fun, exciting week at Aunt Mary's. We had the privilege of having Jane Sassaman, one of the top teachers in the country, here for three days. I think we were all so inspired with her. Here is a pile of some of her work.
Here's Jane helping the students with their designs. She makes it all seem soooo easy.

We got to decorate the classroom with lots of her quilts for inspiration. This is one from her new patterns line. We have a good selection of her patterns here at the shop.

It's so nice to be able to get up close and personal with some of the top quiltmakers quilts. These two are recent creations of Jane's using some of the tecniques that she tought in class.

Jane's fabrics, with all the great foliage inspired me to make these Jurassic leaves. I think they are fun in amongst her fabrics.

The Shop is well stocked on her fabrics. many from her band new line "Prairie Gothic" I can't wait to see what is made from them.

New Things All The Time

I know it's been some time since I added a post. Sorry!!! Been busy. Here is a project I just finished. It's from the latest Buggy Barn Book. "Celebrating Crazy" As most know They are my favorite books and patterns. Soooo much fun to do. We have a few fabric packs so you can make one just like mine if you wish. In the book, it is done in brown and pinks. Soooooo Cute!

We have Lot's of new fabric in the last week or so. this is a wonderful line called "Bella Blue"

It's so crisp and classic. I would love to make a quilt to cuddle up with and read. Something just for me. Hey! Wouldn't white Minky on the back be just the thing to make this the ultimate comfy?

This is a funky, fun collection from Timeless Treasures called "Taxi" I really love black and whites. So now we have it with great yellow.

Of course, we are always working on fun little projects that will take you no time at all. These are some fun napkins to make your table festive. Each kit makes four napkins and they are only $12.99. Then you can use the pattern to make them from all your holiday fabric in your stash. Who wouldn't love these for a gift?

Fall! My Favorite Time of Year

I just LOVE Fall!!! The colors always make me feel good. Even on a rainy, yucky, windy day. Watching the leaves fly just brightens my day. This is out the back window here at the shop. Don't you just want to keep this season going for a while? Well you can! Why not make a project to bring the color inside?

This is a fun class that Donna Holthusen is teaching Saturday, November 15th. It uses the popular Book "9 Patch Pizzaz". Just pick a great fabric that you have a hard time cutting and add a few more fabrics for making 9 patches to scatter through, and TA DA!! You have a fantastic quilt.

Here are some of the great fall fabrics in stock now for putting some great color in your house! We have several small projects using fall colors that you can get done in just one day.

Bags Gallore

Friday's Class "Bags Gallore" was a big sucsess! Donna Holthusen taught the girls how to make these fun totes. They can be used for all kinds of things. Groceries, Diaper bags, Lunch bags or just tote around your junk bags. The bags are sooo much fun to make with great fabric.
Many of the girls want to make these bags for everyone the know for the hollidays. It's fun to match up the fabric to the person.

Such fun to have a finished project when the class is over! These bags look so fun for fall! Maybe we can talk Donna into teaching it again?

Tiny Tots From Red Rooster

We just got in a great line from Red Rooster. It's called "Tiny Tots". It is soooooo cute! It reminds me of when I was a kid. (a long time ago!) The Panel makes a cloth book, however you can cut the blocks out and just go to town, making your own design. There are eight different great coordinates that go with it. I will be making fat quarter packs soon.

This is a free pattern with any purchase of the fabric. It's a very cute project. I can have a kit specially made for you.

I just got a really fun fabric line in from Red Rooster. It's called "Paisley Party" Those gals from Red Rooster have out done themselves this time! I just love this line of fabric. I made this quilt. It was really fun.
Here is the book that the quilt came from. It's the cover quilt. Opps!!! I did it again! you have to turn your head! Sorry!!! Anyway this is one from Atkinson Designs. The patterns are always sooo easy to understand, and you can make them from baby to king size.

A Fun Time Was Had By All

Our week end with marylou has come to an end. Everyone had such a good time. I have had several e-mails telling me they want her to come back for another class. Maybe in the spring. Here she is with a basket on her head. It would make such a nice hat. She's such a good sport! Our next big teacher will be Jane Sassaman, in November. Check it out and sign up. You wont be disappointed!
Here is a picture of the class with Marylou in the middle.

This is one of the houses that was built in class. I think this one belongs to Sheryl. I can't wait to see it when she has all the story done.

Here's my friend Linda. She has taken classes with Marylou several times. She's working on a new story quilt and got quite far in class. It's got to be a good story if it has a flying pig!
