Great Job!!!

I am soooo proud of this wonderful lady.  This is a case of a group at church (or work or any group of people)  They need a gift for someone special.  Somebody pipes up with... "I know someone that quilts!" "I bet she will make a quilt for us!"  I think this has happened to lots of us.  The problem is - #1 They have no idea how much time this will take. #2 how much it will cost. #3 They have definite ideas of what they want. But NO quilting experience.
Oh Boy!  Sometimes this is VERY hard.  I have seen a group of six or so ladies almost come to blows over picking a pattern and fabric. Too many ideas!  This great lady took it all on herself.  Now, she could have made a lap size quilt with an easy pattern. BUT NO!  She does a queen size quilt with hand applique!  What a lady!!!!  I sure hope the recipient of this quilt loves this quilt to pieces.  It's beautiful!  And so is she!!!!

Meet The Teacher!

Today is "Meet The Teacher"  From 12 - 3.  This is always a fun day.  Not only do I get to hang out with some of my favorite people, that just happen  to teach some really excellent classes.  I get to talk all day about them too.  This spring I think we really do have some interesting projects for you to work on.  Here are just a few of them. This cute little "Landscape" is a sample of the kind of thing Judy Irish is doing in "Fast, Fun, Easy, Landscape.  I know it looks intimidating, but really, Judy makes it a piece O cake!  She has so many tricks up her sleeve, she needs bigger sleeves!  You will love it!
This quilt is called "Japanese Jigsaw"  Looks tricky huh?  Nope Donna says it's quite easy!  We have kits for it too.  Who doesn't love batiks?  It takes fat quarters, so it can be done in any pretty fabric you would like. Donna is also teaching Machine quilting.  She will start you from the beginning - sandwiching your quilt, then she will work on straight line quilting with your walking foot. Then.... The scary free motion!  Donna will help it not be so scary.
This is the "Clothesline Tote." This has been our most popular class the last two sessions. It's been SOLD OUT.  Norma Larshus teaches it.  This class has had great reviews by the students. You should see the lovely bags that they have made!

So, if you have time on this gorgeous day. Stop by and get signed up for a class.

Happy Easter!

It's Easter Sunday!  For my family, that's a really big deal.  I'm here at the shop nice and early. The shop will be closed for the day, however, all the family meets here and we will be heading out for our big, annual "Easter Egg Hunt".  The sun is out and I think it's going to be a really fun day.  I will try to take some pictures of our "Hunt", and post them.  Happy Easter everyone!  Enjoy our beautiful day!

New! And SOOO Pretty!!!

Look what just came in!  This fabric is from Camelot Cottons. It's a wonderful company in Canada.  I have had a few of their fabrics in the shop before, and the fabric flew out the door so fast you hardly had a chance to notice it!  The colors are so wonderful, and the images are just so different. here are a few of them
This Sunflower is folded, so your not seeing the whole thing.  The "panel" in about 2/3rds of a yard.  In the same panel there are two flowers.  This beautiful sunflower and the other side is a big dahlia.
I have a pillow at home that My friend Donna made with the last big flower I had in the shop like this.  I will be bringing it in to show what you can easily do with this panel.  It's sooooo pretty!  I have lots and lots of this companies fabric coming in  soon. So, stay tuned!

Thanks For Sharing!

Oh!  How I love it when people share their work!  This is Christine.  She made this quilt in a  class with Linda Tellesbo. (She's peeking out behind Christine)  Isn't it just a masterpiece?!!  The colors are better in real life.  This is a class that Linda teaches.  It is a "Technique of the month" class.  You learn a new technique each month, using "Judy Niemeyer" foundation paper piecing methods.  Linda will be teaching this class here at Aunt Mary's starting in January.  Linda will also be teaching the "Bali Wedding Star" this fall.  This has been a hugely popular class.  I meets once a month for three months.  That way there is lots of time in between class sessions to get lots of sewing done. It is a gorgeous quilt!  Saturday, April 28th will be the last session for the "Bali Wedding Star" class that we have going now.  I will try real hard to remember to get some pictures of the projects, and get them posted.
I have a feeling both of these classes, (Bali Wedding Star and the Technique of the month) will fill up fast.  So if your interested, you better stop by and get more details.   Thank you, Christine, for sharing!!!
