Aunt Mary's Spring Tea

Today was Aunt Mary's annual Spring Tea. Here we are, all ready with lots of goodies. I love to have a chance to have my good customers stop by for a good time of relaxing and enjoying each others company.
We had Krista Moser for a guest speaker. She shared with us about her life and how she came into quilting. She is truly and amazing girl! She practically came out of her momma with a sewing machine. now she is one of the most talented machine quilter that I know, She has a business producing trendy handbags for local boutiques and is working her way into designing fashions.

Krista gave us a great demonstration on her way of making a scalloped border. She makes it look sooooo easy. I have an easier way....... I have her quilt my quilt and scallop the border FOR me.

Over all I think this years Spring Tea was a success and a good time was had by all!

I have found it's such a relaxing, no brain involved kind of project. Just the thing for evenings on the couch! Just follow the line!!!! This one is just chalk full of summer time things. I have been really enjoying it.

A Field Trip

Last Friday I took a little field trip and went to the Camano Island Quilters, quilt show in Stanwood. I had such a great time, and boy oh boy did they have a nice show. This is a group of my friends that I ran into. They are standing in front of a real show stopper!!! I always enjoy going to shows., especially when I don't have to work there. I just love to see lots of my customers master pieces on display.

Yep! You just never know who you will run into. These two fun ladies were there selling some great things. Rosealee's husband was there selling some wonderful quilt racks and other wooden quilt things we are always looking for. I nabbed his business card so if you need that kind of thing just let me know. I am soooo lucky to have so many friends!!! there a several more shows coming up so stop by, pick up some info, and mark your calendar. Maybe I'l see you there!

For the Dogs!

Last month we had a food drive "for the dogs" and it was a great success! I am such a lover of dogs. They just melt my heart. I have such a hard time watching that commercial on T.V. without getting a lump in my throat. So we thought it would be a great idea to help out. Our book Club was reading "Racing in the Rain" a fantastic book with a dog as the author, and there was a coupon on Aunt Mary's Web site that helped out a lot. You all stepped up to the plate!!! We took around three hundred pounds of dog food, treats, toys and over one hundred dollars in cash over to N.O.A.H. I was so impressed with their facilities, and I was so excited to help out. This may be something that needs to keep going at Aunt Mary's. Watch for details.

Hen Rietta

Isn't this just the cutest fabric?!!! It's from Clothworks. They have really been doing some neat stuff. I think it would make such a great row quilt. Just take a section of the border print and make simple blocks in between the rows, and ta da! you have the cutest quilt!!!!!

Saturday Sampler and More.......

Today is our seventh installment of Saturday Sampler Block. This is the block that we will be doing this month. We will review paper piecing and learn some tips on how to do curved piecing. This session Started last September and goes for a year. It's been a lot of fun, and I think lots of quilting tecniques have been covered. You can always jump in if you want to.
Here are some of the past blocks that we have done. Arn't they fun?

Here comes Peter Cotton Tail........ This was a really fun project to do. I think just about anyone would love to have this quilt. In the Book "Bunnies and More" There all kinds of bunnies doing all kinds of things, and not just in 30s fabrics either. There are bunnies in flying saucers and even on tractors. Great Stuff!
