That way you hardly even have to cut. It's all done for you, and all the pretty colors make my mouth water. There are lots of fun patterns that you can use them with also. So next time you don't want to think really hard, stop by, pick a roll and pattern and get going! I just like looking at them. Their soooo pretty!

Don't Mis This Class

This is the "Bali Wedding Star" Linda Tellesbo taught a wonderful workshop here at Aunt Mary's in March. Everyone had a great time and learned lots. Several of the students voted to have Linda come back and teach this quilt. It will be a three month workshop, one Saturday each month. Linda has it set up so that if you do your homework, you will have this all put together by the end of the session. It is an incredibly beautiful quilt. The picture really doesn't do it justice. I have it hanging in the shop. So, stop by and see it.

My Day Off

I Finally got a few days away from the shop. It has been a very hectic month. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE this place! I am very blessed! However, Sometimes it gets to be a bit much. So, I had three whole days away! What do I do? I go to the quilt museum to see my friend Marylou! I couldn't not see her show. It's really wonderful! I could stand and look at each quilt for a very long time and not see everything. There is soo much in her quilts. lots and lots of really neat fabric, buttons and dodahs. I just love her buttons! I think I may have to become an international button burglar (Like in The Thomas Crown Affair) I'm not into diamonds though. I will just burgle the buttons. I'm betting Marylou has a very big button jar. Can you imagine me dressed like a ninja, repelling down a balcony, stepping over the laser beam alarm system and burgling all the cool buttons in the button jars? Ok! Sorry! Maybe that's a story quilt!!! Maybe I shouldn't take so many days off. My imagination get's going!

Tip Toe Through The Tulips With MaryLou Wiedman

Today is April First! Yep!!! What does that mean? Well....... It's April Fools Day, (Be on the look out), It's the first day of the Tulip Festival in Skagit Valley, and tomorrow Marylou Wiedman will be at the quilt museum in LaConner. I think she is just the coolest quilter!!! She has taught several times here at Aunt Mary's and I just love to have her here. She does THE BEST story quilts.
As we travel through the quilting world, our conception of what a quilt really is changes dramatically. When we first start quilting most of us think of a quilt as something to put on the bed. Many of us never change that opinion. There's nothing wrong with that. What could be better than wrapping the people we love in something we made with love using our own hands. Soon, however we run out of beds.

I can remember seeing Marylou speak at a guild meeting, and she changed my view of quilting forever. Some quilts are soooooo much more than "blankets." Some of them are parts of our lives. They tell a story. They tell about our lives and what is important to us, our loves, our lives, our journeys. All in a piece of art to pass down to the future generations. Marylou really knows how to tell a story! When she has been here at the shop, she really knows how to help us tell a story too. If you get a chance to take a workshop from her. Don't pass it up. She's GREAT! So, tomorrow is the opening of her exhibit in LaConner. Maybe you should go.
