Gee's Bend
Gee's Bend! What a wonderful story of some wonderful people! Here is a quilt that I did from a kit that is available here at Aunt Mary's. If you have not read or heard of these wonderful women and their story go to http://www.quiltsofgeesbend.com/ Read about Mary Lee Bendolf, who is the designer of this quilt. I met her at a gallery opening is Seattle. She has such a beautiful heart. I will never forget her. We could all learn a few lessons about life from her.

Show and Tell
Here's my friend Maralee. She brought in her wonderful horse quilt she just finished. She is a graduate of my Buggy Barn Mania class. Actually, she's taken my class three times! Hey, It's a fun class! This quilt pattern is in the book "Crazy Fun and Games" I think she will tell you it's hard to stop making Buggy Barn patterns. They really are fun. If your interested, I'm doing yet another class on Saturday, April 24th.

Spring Has Sprung!!!
Can you believe what gorgeous weather we have had? I think it's truly spring in the great Northwest! Here is a new quilt we have hanging in the shop. My good friend Linda Pederson made it. It's called "Primavera" by The Vintage Spool. I don't think the picture really shows how really pretty it is. Sooo you will just have to stop by and see it. If you happen to want a pattern I can fix you up. It just screams SPRING!!!
I also picked up one of their new patterns called "Faded Glory." with a fun summery Forth of July theam. It may be one of my new projects coming up. I Love the Forth Of July! It's not too far off now.

Happy Valentines Day!!!
Tomorrow is Valentines Day! I know, I know some people think it's a non holiday, but I thinks it's a great day! We should never pass up an opportunity to tell all our special people how much we love them even in just little simple things we do! Tape a love note to your husbands steering wheel, or cut out hearts from scrap red fabrics and leave them where he will find them. My kids are getting kind of big but they are never too big for their mom to hug them. Here's a cute little pattern you could start for next year. Isn't it sweet? So tomarrow I hope you all take a few minutes for LOVE! XOXO

Tulips! A sure Sign of Spring
I am getting spring fever early this year! The tulips are not only coming up in my baskets outside of the shop, we now have some inside too! Isn't this little quilt just sweet! It's all done fusible web and raw edge stitched, so what could be easier. If your not sure how to do this technique, I have a class coming up next Saturday, March 20th. It's kind of like paint by numbers. There are lots and lots of patterns that use this technique, and it's very fast and easy to do. They make great gifts. This one has a kit available for it so now you don't even have to find the fabric. FUN!

A Fun Class
Kathy's class, "The Fabulous Sewing Tote" last Saturday, was a big success! Almost everyone in the class took home a finished project!!! That's really something!! I think they all had a good time too. This little tote is just the right size to take all your goodies to class, and sturdy enough to even hold a small sewing machine.
Here's Jennifer showing off her finished project. She just got a sweet new feather weight sewing machine for Christmas, so now she can bring it to class in style. We may have to schedule this class another time!

Smooth Sailing
This time of year is always busy for me. Soo many quilts that I have to get done. The Tri County Quilt tour is almost here and I am done with my quilt. TA DA!!!!! If your not familiar with this event. It's lots of fun. Basically you will be going to 15 of the best quilt shops in the northwest. At each shop you will pick up an original block pattern that was designed by the shop for this tour. Then...... you get to see what each of us have come up with using our own fabrics and layouts. this will be our third year and customers have raved about how different, and beautiful the quilts are in each shop. Here is a sneak peek of my block. The quilt will be hung in the shop on March 1st. Stop by and see it and pick up information on the tour.

The 2010 Winter Olympics Has arrived at Aunt Mary's!
First, I want to thank all of you that made Aunt Mary's 10th anniversary celebration such a fun time. I had fun all week, but Saturday was really a fun time! Thank you all for making Aunt Mary's what it is! I would never have made it ten years if I didn't have all you wonderful friends.
Now, Check out this cute quilt with the winter Olympics all over it. It's a really easy little quilt kit. It would make a great remembrance of a trip to Vancouver or just trip to the couch to watch it on TV. There are only ten days left before the Olympics start. I always love to watch the amazing athletes do what they do and make it look easy. This year is even more exciting as we have it all happening right out our back door. Maybe Aunt Mary's will get to welcome some of the spectators traveling up north. I hope so!
