Aunt Mary's "Tulip Festival" Saturday Sampler

Here it is!  We have such a great time in our "Saturday Sampler" classes.  This is the quilt we will be working on beginning this fall. It's called "Tulip Festival" Using fabric from Benartex.  I  have been working on it and will have it all put together real soon.  That way you can get a good look at what you will create.  This year we have three ways that you can participate.    You can purchase a kit each month. Or purchase the complete kit and get a 20% discount, and a free Tri Recs set.  OR - You can use your own fabric!  Each month, on the first Saturday, we will have a demonstration for that months block and you can stay to put it together or take it home to work on it.  You just have to come the next month and show your block to get your next block pattern and demo FREE.  I think it's a really beautiful quilt!  The focus this year will be to improve your piecing skills.  For more information, stop in and we will answer all your burning questions.  I hope you can be with us!

Kim McLeans "Flower Pots" Block of the Month

So!  Did you get my e-mail with the new fall newsletter and class schedule in it?  If you didn't, you are probably not on my e-mail list or I have you in there wrong.  If your interested in receiving  the newsletter, and a few other tid bits about sales and other fun things happening.  Give me a call or stop in and I will get you in the computer properly.  Anyway, this is the applique block of the month we will get you all started on this winter.  It will take place on the first Sunday of each month, starting in October.  Even if you have done very little applique, this is a great project to move your skills along.  It's beautiful and what could be better than  working on creating all these pretty flowers and birds all winter long.  I used all Kaffe Fassest fabrics in this one.  Just like in the pattern.  However I have seen it in beautiful Asian prints and don't you think it would be really pretty in batiks?  I think so.  What ever fabric you use, I will guide you along the way. What an adventure!!!

Here is another sneak peak at a class sample for our fall schedule.  (It's in your e-mail, or stop in and get a hard copy) This is a class that my friend Stephanie Davis will be teaching.  It's called "Liberated Stacked Coins". I am very excited to have Stephanie teach here.  She is an amazing person and I love her style.  You should check out her blog.  (Scroll down on my blog and she is listed)  Such a creative spirit.  She has such a playful style.  She will have everyone just sewing stuff together to see what it looks like and then, HEY! what if we do this?  Never a dull moment! I know that this class will be fun! Maybe I'll take it myself.

Judy Niemeyer's Bali Wedding Star

Isn't this a gorgeous quilt?  Who wouldn't just love this quilt?  Well, this is just one of the great classes we have on the fall schedule.  Linda Telesbo, is the instructor and she has spent many hours with Judy to become a certified teacher. So that means she knows all the tricks to make this quilt much easier than it looks.  It's a three session class. One Saturday a month for three months.  I have to say there is lots of sewing in between the sessions. But, that way you are well on your way to having this quilt put together by the end of the class. This will be the third time Linda has done this class at Aunt Mary's.  Every student did an amazing job!  Many have told me that this is the only way they would ever attempt a wedding ring quilt.  It really goes together very well.  SO!  If this sounds like a class for you.  Give us a call and get signed up.  The Newsletter and class schedule for fall will be e-mail out this week.  I'm excited about all the fun things coming up this fall.  Something for everyone!

Working on a Fall Newsletter

Well, this last week I have been hard at work booking classes and making plans for fun things that will be happening in the shop this fall.  I think we have come up with some really fun things.  I have to sit down and get a newsletter written now.  The thing is. If I send it out this week, you are all in the "Summer" mindset, and aren't thinking about quilting in the least.  So, here is a just little teaser to get you warmed up to start thinking about it.  In October we will begin an absolutely beautiful Saturday Sampler.  There will be a new "Block of the Month" session to learn Hand applique, and  I will be having a "Christmas Mystery" class.  I have it made and I will only tell you this....... Fun!
We also have lots of classes to get you all prepared for the gift giving season coming up. (I know!  It's August! But it will be here VERY  soon!) We have two different Bags classes.  One using this book, "Modern Classics" and Donna will be teaching the "Little Sister" Bag.  (In The first Pic)  Also the "Floor Quilts" Class will be on the schedule.   That's been a really fun class.  It's a great way to use up lots of scrape fabric and make something really beautiful.
Krista will be teaching the "Tuffet" class.  EVERYONE loves a tuffet. Not many students that have taken this class only make one! There are some fun events, sales, and even a free demo day planned.  So, Stay tuned for a newsletter arriving in your e-mail real soon.

It's SUMMER!  Today is suppose to get over 90.  Frankly, anything over 75 is too hot for me.  I'm ready for the weather to cool off.  Not Only is August the slowest month of the year in the shop.  If I get too hot, I a big lazy bones!  There are always thing for me to work on.  (The fall class schedule,  a newsletter, organizing, cleaning. blaw, blaw, blaw) The list goes on and on.  Maybe what I need is a day with other quilters working on a fun project.  Well, I'm in Luck!  Saturday is "Day Camp" here in the shop.  We will be sewing and having fun, (In Air Conditioning)  From 10am - 10pm.  AND, I will even make us a delicious dinner. It will be a mini retreat! There are still a few spots left if this sound good to you.  It's only $25.  I would love to have you!
