When Things Go Missing

My goals for this blog is to show some of the fun things happening in the shop, New fun fabrics, classes and events that are happening. Aunt Mary's is a fun place to be and I like to share it.  Today, I'm going to go away from the fun stuff and talk a little about something that has been on my mind.  Shoplifting!  I know!  The first reaction is always........ NO WAY!  It couldn't happen in a Quilt Shop.  Yep!!!  In the past few weeks.  Two bolts of brand new fabric, a stack of fat quarters,  One of the "Clothesline Tote"  samples and even the poster that shows the Shop Hop Fabric for this year is missing from the bathroom door.  So! Not only am I out the revenue from the missing inventory, I'm embarrassed that one of my instructors samples is gone!  I always go through the stage where I'm angry, then I feel "Stupid",  ( I probably talked to the person and treated them the way I like to be treated, Like a friend)  Then I just have to go to the place where I just let it go.  Not much I can do anyway.  I think.......Bad Karma On YOU!!!  What else is there?  I refuse to have a shop where we can't feel comfortable, and I'm always suspicious. Sometimes I wonder what they are doing with the fabric anyway.  Making a beautiful quilt for someone they love?  Hmmmmm  that's hard to see.  It goes against the whole feeling of a quilt filled with love.
Well, I wont go on much more.  After all, what can anyone do?  Just make it known that it's happening.  If your out there and your reading this....... Shame on you!!!!  Everyone else, Thank you for listening!

New Projects!

Yesterday, I showed just a little bit of the new fabrics coming in. Today, I thought I would show just a few of the new projects.  I have this wonderful quilt made by Cathy Reitan.  She works for "That Patchwork Place."  She's such a nice girl!  This quilt is featured in one of their books, "A Bakers Dozen."  She brought it in for us to love for a while.  It's sooooo pretty!  It's amazing that sometimes you see a quilt in a book, and it's pretty but it doesn't grab you.  Well, in person this quilt is GREAT!  That's why I like to get in trunk shows for books.  The details are so much nicer to see.
This is a new kit that we have in the shop.  The fabric is from "Windham."  I really like it.  It's got great coffee fabric in it.  All coffee beans and cups and things.  I may have to put it in our kitchen when it gets done selling fabric.  The yardage is going away fast, but we still have a few kits.  Stay tuned for more!!!

Day's Off Are Great. New Stuff Is Better!!

My day's off were just THE best!!  I hardly did anything that I planned on doing.  My house still needs my attention.  Oh, well!  If you want to see me, you will just have to come to the shop!  It's better here anyway.  We have lots of new stuff in.  Here are a few of Kaffe Fasset's new spring line.  I have lots more coming, but it's always exciting to see it start arriving in the shop.
We also got Hoffmans new "Bali Pops"  They look just like candy on the shelf!  Soooo pretty.  One of these little dandies and some background fabric will make a gorgeous quilt.  Or!  How about one of the "Clothesline Totes"  They have been THE project to do around here lately.  There's lots and lots of new things on the horizon.  I love this time of year.  Believe it or not, the new Christmas fabrics will start coming in next month!  OH!!! That's way to much to think about!!!  I'll have to take a few more days off before I can deal with that!

Tri County Quilt Tour Report

Woooo whoooo!!!!  What a fun week!  The Tri County Quilt Tour (I Think) was a huge success!  We had lots and lots of happy hoppers come thorough, and they all seemed to be quite pleased with the whole affair.  The little charms were a fun addition.  I don't have any pictures for this post.  Sorry.  They place is a mess!  But, that's just fine!  I means we all had a good time!  Kind of like having a party at home.  If the place isn't a mess, it must not have been a good party!  I'll get all  the beer bottles picked up and post some pictures next week.  Hee Hee!
I am kind of glad it's over though. It's been a very long two weeks.  So I am off for the next two days.   Ethel will be here to take care of you. I'm SO looking forward to waking up tomorrow and remembering it's my day off, cuddling up and going back to sleep!  That's the best time of the whole day off thing! See you all next week!

Quilt Tour - Mid Way Report

The 2012 Tri County Quilt Tour so far,  has been a big success!  Mother nature has been on our side big time!!!!  What beautiful weather we have had.  Who wouldn't want to go on a road trip?  All the fun quilters have had big smiles on their faces and seam to be having a great time. I think the little addition of collecting the charms has been really fun.  So far we have only run out of a few patterns.  But hopefully they will be coming in today.  Hard to tell. The company that supplies us is down in Eugene, Oregon.  They are currently snowed under.  Oh, Boy!!!  I'm glad it's them and not us.  It's hard to believe, with all the pretty sunshine we have here.  Well the girls are starting to come in, so I better go. Happy hopping!  Everyone!!!!

I'm Ready For the Quilt Tour!

Whew!  What a week!  Last week end was the Q.A. Show, out in Monroe.  Its was just THE BEST!  The new building was really the star of the show.  It was so big and light and beautiful!  I really had a great time.  Really, the show was great.  If you didn't make it out there, don't miss it next year.
Then,  I had to get everything back into the shop and all fluffed up for the Tri County Quilt Tour.  IT STARTS TODAY!! But, no worries,  I'm ready!
We re-arranged some of the shop.  I think it looks great!  It's just such a big mess till you get it all done.  It's kind of like re-arraigning the living room at home.  It's fun to come home to a new look.  I also have lots of new quilts up.  stay tuned for pictures.  I have about three minutes till we open. SO,  here we go.  Hope to see you!

My Tri County Quilt Is Hanging!

Ta Da!  Here is my rendition of the Tri County "Sew Northwest" Quilt for 2012.  It was really fun to make this year. As a group, we all decided that we were getting a little complicated with our quilts.  Sew!  This year all the blocks are traditional pieced.  I fell in love with this line from Moda.  It's so pretty and springy!  I don't know about you but I am absolutely craving SPRING!
I can't wait to see what all the other shops did with the blocks. I hope they post theirs on theirs web sites.  If not, I will have to wait till our meeting next month to see them.  OR you guy can take pictures and share them with me.  The Tri County Quilt Tour is next week.  I can't wait!!!

Kit's For The Show

Boy Oh Boy!  I have been one busy little quilter!  It's been that time of year to get lots and lots of new quilts done.  Not only is there a new class schedule to think about, there is the Q.A. Show next week and the Tri county right after that.  (AND, I suppose if I really want to torture myself...... It's time to start thinking about the BIG shop hop too.)
I think we have some great things to unveil!  Here's one that I just finished.  It's out of the newer "Buggy Barn" book,  Still Crazy.  I know I've said it before, BUT.......  I Love Buggy Barn!!!  This one was no exception.  Aren't they just the cutest little tea pots? So of course I made a few kits.  I have a feeling they wont last long.   I still have to put the binding on today.  So I better get going.  Sooo Much to do!!!!

Tri County Quilt Tour Time Is Almost Here!

I'm SOOO excited!  My quilt is done and ready to hang.  I have all the patterns ready and now there is nothing to do but wait!  Ok! There is LOTS of things for me to do before we open the doors in two weeks for the Tri County Quilt Tour.  FIRST - I'll be out at the Q.A. Quilt Show in Monroe with allot of fun things from the shop all next week end.  Then on Sunday, my husband will drop everything I have out at the show onto a table in the classroom.  I will have two days to get the shop all put back together and polished up for the Tri County!  Whew!!!  Makes me tired just thinking about it.  But excited!  It's a fun time.  The picture  here is the cute "Charm" necklace that I made with all the charms that you can collect from the quilt shops during the tour.  I added some really cute beads from  Red Door Beads.  That's a really cute bead store not to far from Aunt Mary's  The silver, quilting charms are the ones that you can collect on the tour.  The little bobbin is from Aunt Mary's.  I'm excited about this little addition to the tour. So!  I hope you are all getting excited too!

A Day Off And New Fabric Works Wonders

I'm feeling SO much better!  I had yesterday off.  Our little Henry is home and seems to be doing ok.  He's sooooo skinny!  But the outlook is good.  So I spent most of the day working on finishing a few projects that will be kits.  The Q.A. Show is coming up fast and my booth there will be chock full of fun new quilts, kits and patterns.  Then the week after is the Tri County Quilt Tour.  Whew!!!!  Lot of work, but lots of fun too.  Then, just one day off and it's fun to come back to the shop and see new fabric!  This is a line from Clothworks.  So Fresh and springy.  We need that!  (Snow at my house last night!  Yuck!!!)
And this is a line from a company that I think is going to be one of my very favorites.  Camelot Cottons.  the fabric is very different and beautiful.  I can't wait to get more.  I have order lots and lots.  So I guess this week is looking up!  We even have a little sun shine this morning!  Gotta love it!!!

Some Weeks Are Better Than Others!

This past week has been kind of yucky!!!!  We have had a VERY sick little dog on our hands.  Yep!  It';s Henry "the ferocious quilt eating dog!"  We took him to the vet on Monday and had ex rays done.  Couldn't really see anything bad in there.  But for the rest of the week he was going down hill.  Didn't eat or drink. He was getting sooo skinny!   It was kind of scary! So, finally, by Saturday, our vet deiced to see what was in there.  I bet no one will ever guess what it was!  Yep! Batting!!!   Poor little guy!  Well, anyway we get to go get him this after noon.  All my good quilts are put away.  There is one on the couch and one on our bed.  I will be spraying them down with a spray that makes anything taste REALLY bitter.  I sure hope it works.  Will keep you posted.  Our vet absolutly loves us!  We had our other dog in to see them two weeks ago with a back problem.  SO....... doesn't everyone need to start a new project?
